Ping is an educational and informational financial awareness service designed for high school students (ages 13-17) that provides conversational notifications about spending activity. The service:

  • Sends automated messages based on bank transaction data
  • Provides informational insights about spending patterns
  • Responds to questions about transactions via SMS
  • Helps users build healthy money habits through awareness and reflection

Important: Ping is educational and informational in nature. Messages are based on transaction data and are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. The service is designed for awareness purposes only.

Product Scope: Ping does not provide real banking, credit, or investment services. Ping does not collect financial account information directly from users. Ping uses read-only access to transaction data through secure third-party services for informational purposes only.

2. No Financial Advice Disclaimer (CRITICAL)

Ping is NOT:

  • Financial, legal, or tax advice
  • A financial advisor or fiduciary
  • A replacement for professional financial advice
  • A guarantee of financial outcomes

You acknowledge that:

  • All messages are informational only
  • You remain fully responsible for all financial decisions
  • Ping has no fiduciary responsibility to you
  • You should consult qualified professionals for financial, legal, or tax matters

This app is a helpful companion, not a financial authority.

3. Minimum Age Requirement

Ping is intended for users 13 years of age and older, including high school students. Users under 13 are not permitted to create accounts.

3.1 Age Verification

During account creation, you must confirm that you are 13 years of age or older. If you indicate that you are under 13, account creation will be blocked.

3.2 Users Aged 13-17

Parental consent is not required for users aged 13-17. However, we encourage parents and guardians to be involved in their teen's use of Ping and to contact us with any questions or concerns.

4. User Responsibilities

By using Ping, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information, including your age
  • Maintain the security of your account and bank connections
  • Use the service in compliance with all applicable laws
  • Not use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Accept responsibility for any carrier charges related to SMS messages

5. SMS Messaging Terms

Consent to Receive Messages

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive automated SMS messages from Ping, including:

  • Transaction notifications
  • Spending insights
  • Responses to your questions
  • System updates (if applicable)

Message Frequency

  • Message frequency varies based on your transaction activity
  • You may receive multiple messages per day if you have multiple transactions
  • You can adjust message frequency in Settings

Opt-Out Instructions

  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out
  • Opt-out is immediate and effective
  • Reply HELP for assistance
  • You can also pause messages in the app Settings

Carrier Charges

  • Standard message and data rates may apply
  • Ping is not responsible for any carrier charges
  • Check with your carrier for details about your messaging plan

6. Account Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by:

  • Using the "Close Account" option in Settings
  • Contacting support
  • Disconnecting all bank accounts

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms of Service
  • You misuse the service
  • You engage in fraudulent activity
  • Required by law or legal process

Upon termination, your access to the service will cease, and we will delete your data in accordance with our Data Retention Policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

Service Provided "As-Is"

  • The service is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
  • We do not guarantee that all transactions will be detected or processed
  • Messages may be delayed or not delivered due to technical issues

No Liability for Financial Losses

Ping is not liable for any financial losses, damages, or consequences resulting from:

  • Use or inability to use the service
  • Decisions made based on messages received
  • Missed or delayed messages
  • Errors in transaction data
  • Bank connection issues

Maximum Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ping's total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any).

8. Bank Account Connections

Read-Only Access

  • Ping only requests read-only access to your bank account
  • We cannot move money, make payments, or modify your account
  • We do not store your bank login credentials

Third-Party Services

  • Bank connections are provided by third-party services (e.g., Teller, Plaid)
  • Your use of these services is subject to their terms and conditions
  • Ping is not responsible for the actions or policies of these third parties

9. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Ping are owned by Ping and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated terms in the app
  • Sending a notification (if significant changes)
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date

Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
